The ICOM Australia Awards acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding contributions made by individuals and Institutions in Australia that have strengthened international relations and enriched the cultural landscape of museum and galleries.

Australian museums and galleries play a vital role in enhancing the cultural, social and intellectual lives of all Australians and contribute to well-informed, tolerant, and cohesive communities. International collaboration and the sharing of ideas and expertise are integral to furthering these endeavours.

The ICOM Australia Traveling Fellowship

The 2024 Fellowship has been awarded to Briar Holt from the University of Melbourne. ICOM Australia is supporting Briar with $5,000 to assist her to travel to institutions in Europe to explore best practice examples of museum management and to attend the 2024 Arts & Cultural Management Conference in Vienna in November this year.

The Fellowship of up to $5,000, is funded through donations by Australian members of ICOM (the International Council of Museums, Paris)[1], to encourage early-career Australian ICOM members to increase personal experience through undertaking travel and expanding their networks abroad.

The ICOM Australia Fellowship, is open to all early career and student ICOM members in Australia.

Applications for the 2025 Fellowship will open early next year.
