On the International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction each year, archives, galleries, libraries, museums, historical societies and cultural heritage sites across Australia are urged to take a step forward in disaster risk assessment and preparation for cultural heritage protection. This year Blue Shield Australia is supporting AICCM’s Disaster Preparedness Calendar and a webinar on October 14 to publicise disaster preparedness planning.

What does 2025 have in store for Australia? The potential for floods, bushfires, storms and cyclones are all possibilities we should prepare for.

Please join us for the online launch of AICCM’s 2025 Disaster Preparedness Calendar in conjunction with International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction on Monday 14 October at 2pm Australian Eastern Daylight Savings time (AEDT).

The event will include a discussion on the question:

“When faced with recovering cultural material following a major disaster event Should we save everything?  Can we save everything?”

Speakers include Kingsley Mundey (Executive MBA IAS Fine Art Logistics) and Zola Maddison (Director of Training and events Australian Library and Information Association and ALIA representative on Blue Shield Australia).
